I am currently lecturing on a foundation course called ‘Working with texts in the Humanities’ offered by the Humanities Education Development Unit, University of Cape Town. I graduated with a PhD in Education in the Applied language and literacies stream in 2012. In the course of my academic journey at UCT, I took courses in English, Linguistics, Philosophy (my undergraduate majors), Education and Rhetorical studies and worked as tutor and as a Writing Centre consultant for a couple of years. Issues around academic writing and the development of English as an Additional Language pedagogies hence became my main research interests as well as the focal point of the foundation course I helped to design and am now teaching to first year students in the extended degrees. In addition, I am exploring affordances of online spaces and modes to enhance and extend students’ learning in a safe and dynamic environment.
