David Ker

David Ker is studying for his MA at UCT in linguistics. His research involves the transmodal semiosis of texts in Mozambican primary classrooms. In plain language that means he’s looking at how texts move from the textbook to the lesson plan to the chalkboard to the notebook!

David worked as a linguist and Bible translator for many years in Mozambique before moving to Cape Town to start the Red Zebra Project, a non-profit organization that creates and distributes books for children in African languages.
